Japanese style yaki udon

Yaki udon/ fried udon is a popular Japanese dish made of wheat noodles, vegetables and almost any type of protein(I used shrimps). It’s quick, easy and hearty. I usually just use whatever that’s left in the fridge. I just don’t feel like it is necessary to describe more about the food. Just try making it and you won’t regret.

Ingredients (Serves 1):

10pc (approx.) Shrimps
1 serving Udon
50g Onions
 90g Chopped cabbage
 40g Shredded carrots
10g Scallions
1tsb (approx) Oyster sauce
few drops Sesame oil
Salt, pepper to taste
Katsuobushi (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil (about 1/2tsb), saute sliced onions and scallions
  2. Add cabbage, carrots and shrimps and a dash of salt once the onions turn translucent and soft
  3. Saute until the ingredients are almost fully cooked
  4. Switch to medium-low heat. Add udon noodles (cooked) and several drops of sesame oil (so that the noodles won’t stick).
  5. Add oyster sauce
  6. Stir well, add some pepper
  7. Top with Katsuobushi if desire

Enjoy!

Filling, healthy and easy. Tastes like the ones at Japanese Izakayas 🙂

Bon Appétit
